He did it again!!!

I can't believe it, but Hayden used the potty this morning!! He acted like he wanted to take his diaper off, so I did, but told him to let me know if he needed to go potty. He quickly got up and ran down the hall to his room. I realized that the bathroom door was closed so I opened it and he went right in and sat down. He only went a little bit, but I made a big deal out of it and he seemed excited. He even had to reach in and touch it before I could stop him. So, of course, we washed hands and put a diaper on. Then we headed out the house to the store because we HAD to go get underoos. Can I tell you how cute these things are!!! I know it's a little early, but I figured we would wear them when we're home. It's worth a shot. He's showing interest, so why not?

It will probably never happen again

Just a little while ago Hayden had undone his diaper. I asked him if he wanted to take it off and he said yes. I figured it was no big deal to let him run around "nakey baby" and just said "if you need to potty, let mommy know." I was in my room when I heard some music, but didn't think much of it because of all the toys in the house that play in music. I realized he was in the bathroom and when I went in, he was sitting on the potty. That in itself is a big accomplishment! But there was no product in the potty so I just praised him for getting on it at all. At least he's showing interest. I went about my business.

I was cleaning his bathroom and not really paying attention. I don't know when he did it, but he showed me that he had tried to use the potty!!!!! I think he tried to use it "daddy style" because it was mostly on the floor and just a little bit in the potty, but he did it!!! He seemed upset that it was on the floor, but I was just so happy that he'd even attempted. I can't believe that he's such a big boy. It probably won't happen again for a while and we weren't even planning on trying for few months, but I'm so excited!! I can't wait to tell Craig

Do You Believe in Prayer?

I know that I certainly do. To anyone else it might be coincidence, but to me, it was the Lord watching out for my husband.

Let me preface by saying that my husband works for an oil and gas company. Safety is their number one concern. Or so I thought. About two weeks ago there was a really bad lightening storm one evening. The rules state that if there is lightening all employees are to be off equipment and the job halted. No one is supposed to go back to the job until it has been at least five minutes with no lightening.

Well, on this particular night, there was severe lightening and everyone was "allowed" to get off their equipment except Craig. He kept voicing his concern about the job not being safe, but his supervisor said that the job needed to finished. All the other guys on the ground kept voicing their concerns over the radio, but they were told that they work in situations like that all the time (not true), "what's the big deal?". Craig's co-worker (the one who trained him on this particular piece of equipment), took it upon himself to climb up onto the manifold and forcibly send Craig down. He told Craig that he had a wife and son to take care of and he didn't want anything to happen to him. What a selfless act that his co-worker and friend committed. He put himself in harms way because he thought of someone else first.

When Craig was telling me the story it brought tears to my eyes because I was so grateful for what his friend did for him and for us. And then it dawned on me to ask what time this was all happening. He said that it was at 8:30p.m. (just before they finished the job and headed home). Why is this important? Because it was 8:30p.m. when I was putting Hayden to bed and we were praying that the Lord would watch over Craig and keep him safe. Would he have been safe if I hadn't said prayers with Hayden that night? Maybe. But it's my faith that tells me that the Lord was watching over my husband and his friend.
