The business of freezing time.

Remember the Le Clic camera? I sure do. It's the first camera I can remember having. It's the camera I used when I thought I was Ansel Adams. I took pictures of EVERYTHING. I was hoping and praying that I would capture that amazing photograph that would land me on the cover of some magazine or end up in a coffee-table book. It was always like looking through a window. Many times I would just get lost in the picture. I know it sounds silly and cliche. Somewhere along the way, I got interested in other things and I didn't really pick up a camera for a long time for any reason other than a candid snapshot. But then I was exposed to better equipment and the bug got me again. I'm still striving for that perfect shot and learning along the way.

I can remember as a small child my Great Uncle, Jerry, traveling to all parts of the world and along with him went his Cannon AE-1. He took pictures of Big Ben, London's Parliament, St. Basil's cathedral in Moscow and so on. It was always a dream of mine to see those places. Some I have, other's I have not. When he passed away, I got that camera. I was so intimidated by that camera. I still am in a way. I don't know that I will ever capture things quite like he did. Maybe it's just my sadness at him being gone, but to me he had a great eye. I have used it a few times early on. It's still a great camera, but the digital age has taken over. Instant gratification helps my confidence. I'm feeling better about my work after having my first session in which I was paid. I'm hoping to expand and try new things and possibly start a small business doing something that I love. Isn't that the goal? If you love it, it's not work. Who knows where this road will lead? I am my own worst enemy and criticise myself rather harshly. So, if I can keep from second guessing myself, this thing might take off.

Here are a few samples of my first session. I went to highschool with their mom. I hadn't seen her in probably 15 years. WAY too long. They were great subjects considering it was nearly 100 degrees. I am pleased with the outcome and hope that this is the start of something wonderful.

Those pictures are fantastic!! I don't know why it is, but it seems like we are all our own worst critics (I do the same thing all the time when I'm sewing) but you truly have a natural talent. I can't wait to see how all of this unfolds for you! Great job!
